NOTICE OF RACE

 

 

 

 

SITE:        The 2011 Colorado Laser Championship will be held August 27 & 28 on the waters of Grand Lake. The Grand Lake Yacht Club is the host club and organizing authority.

 

RULES:    The regatta will be governed by the 2008-2011 Racing Rules of Sailing, the prescriptions of US Sailing, and the Laser Class Rules, and Sailing Instructions to be disseminated at the regatta. 

 

ELIGIBILITY:  The regatta is open to all Laser class sailboats. The contests will be conducted in Laser standard rigs.

 

RACING: Seven races will be attempted and scored using the low point system.  One race may constitute a series.  No warning signal will occur after 3 pm on Sunday.  The courses will approximate a windward-leeward orientation.

 

REGISTRATION:    Registration by mail will conclude on August 21.  Registration and check in at the regatta site (GLYC is on the shore at the east end of the village) will be from 8:30 am to 10 am on Saturday August 27.                                                                                                

 

SCORING:             The low point system, Appendix A2 of The Racing Rules of Sailing, with one point for first, will be used.

 

PRIZES:   Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers, and the top finisher in the master, women and junior classifications.

 

SOCIAL EVENTS: Saturday evening cookout.

 

SPECIAL NOTES:  Camping with limited amenities will again be available on the club grounds.  Please do not bring any pets.  The Club facilities will be available Friday afternoon for those who wish to camp.

 

ENTRIES:                 Each entry must be submitted on the enclosed form. Entries must be accompanied by a check in the amount of $55, ($50 for US Sailing members) payable to the GRAND LAKE YACHT CLUB.  Entry fees include a sandwich lunch on Saturday, and Sunday, Saturday dinner and race management by Principal Race Officer Tom Coulthurst and his team.
